AIDS is just as much of a threat as it ever was. That is the reason for AIDS Walk for Life, it is a reality that Bruce House and its Walk partner agencies addresses daily. The facts speak for themselves:
Approximately 60,000 people in Canada are living with HIV/AIDS and it is estimated that another 20,000 are infected with HIV but do not know it.
Infections among women and youth have risen dramatically in recent years
The new HIV drugs don’t work for everyone
AIDS is still fatal. There is no cure and no vaccine. Prevention is still the only defence against HIV transmission.
